If this is the airport of your choice, there are several things that you should know before your arrival in Jamaica.
Named after one of our national heroes Norman Manley, this airport is located on the Norman Manley Highway.
This airport is very busy, especially during holiday seasons. You can expect well over 5,000 passengers daily accessing this passport.
What you will notice once you arrive at this airport is that everyone is extremely helpful and quick to assist with questions, and any problems that you may encounter.
Recent renovations and upgrades to this airport have positively changed the appearance and the mobility. One phase of renovation has been completed with another on the way, and a third one planned for the future.
These upgrades were well needed as the traffic through the airport was increasing more than the capacity.
As it relates to distancing from the airport to your destination, you should choose Norman Manley International Airport (N.M.I.A.) if the majority of your time spent in Jamaica will be in Kingston, St. Thomas, Portland, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and St. Mary.
Flights Available to NMIA
Fewer airlines fly to this airport when compared to Sangster International Airport; nevertheless, there are several major airlines that will fly from your country to this airport.

Immigration forms will be issued to you before you arrive in Jamaica. To avoid delays, ensure that you complete your immigration form before you join the line.
International passengers will need to complete sections A, B and C. Locals, who are departing will only need to complete section B.
In addition to the Immigration form, you will also need to present your passport, and a returning ticket (non residents).
Transportation from Norman Manley International Airport will not be a problem.
There is the option of renting a car. Several car rental companies are located at this airport. I would advise you to book a car rental company from online so that on your arrival, a suitable car will be available.
Some persons choose to charter a tax, which is one of the most expensive options.
When it is time to hire a taxi driver, ensure that the taxi that you choose has a red plate (licensed taxi operator), shows you proper identification and is registered with the taxi association.
To be on the safe side you can ask airport personnel to call a taxi for you. Their service is much more expensive but much safer.
Arrangements can also be made for an airport transfer to your hotel. This option is for large groups travelling together.
Would like like to reach your destination in minutes? Domestic flights are available at Tinson Pen Aerodrome, which is only 15 minutes from NMIA.
There are no hotels or inns at this airport but there are plenty of room options to choose from.
In the Kingston area, there are numerous types of accommodations that you can stay at such as hotels, villas, bed and breakfast, guest houses or apartments.
The majority of the Kingston hotels are located in the New Kingston area and are within close proximity to entertainment, shopping, attractions and nightlife.
